Do we know how many people we can talk to, how many cups of coffee, cans of soda or bottled water we can drink at once? The answer is obvious, it is one at a time.
Yes it is a fact that we can address multiple people from a podium, prepare many cups of coffee but the truth is we can only focus on and have one thing at a time. If we can accept this, we can understand confusion. Why, because confusion comes in the absence of clarity or orderly process. It happens when we want to be with multiple people, go to multiple places and have multiple things. Confusion occurs when we attempt to work with a monkey mind – having multiple thoughts and feelings – and not settle down with a single stable piece of data in the present moment.
We cannot be in the present and think about what we could have done yesterday or what we are going to do tomorrow. Life offers us many paths, but one thing is for certain, we can only travel down one path at a time.
Who are you right now? This moment and so you will be.
